Props to us for saying "no" to free food

Today at work was an insane barrage of unexpected, free, gourmet food

  • Breakfast croissants for a canceled client meeting
  • Friday bagels, as usual
  • Gourmet Sidecar Donuts for someone’s last day
  • Sandwiches from Mendocino Farms ordered for a team meeting
  • A cookie and brownie tray from the same meeting
  • Bottega Louie beignets filled with Nutella, extras from a client meeting
  • Happy hour cocktails and food for the same coworker’s last day

I said no , but boy did I agonize over it with thoughts like: “you could eat for free today and save money”, “have a dessert and skip dinner”, “but these donuts are like $5 each”. I’m exhausted, but proud, and I feel lucky knowing there’s someplace I can go where other people are in the same boat.

You all say no to free food every single day too and you deserve recognition. The world is not designed to help you lose weight, but you’re doing it. Yes we struggle and sometimes we cave, but we also say a lot of “no” and that deserves mad props. Give yourself credit for your discipline and get after it this weekend!
