Finally downloaded the LoseIt! app and tracked my first lunch! The results surprised me in a positive way.

Hey, y'all, I've been on here for a while but I don't think I've posted before. Or maybe I've asked questions but never really posted about progress. So I'm female, 30, very short and I finally had enough when I discovered I was over 200 pounds. Realized I needed to lose more than half of what I weigh! So I cut cals and carbs and I've lost about 60 pounds since April. The fact that I'm kinda active helps. I don't do sport but I go on very long walks with my dog etc. So, I was mentally prepared for the plateau when I said to myself "Screw it, I'm gonna count calories because I'm curious above all". Before yesterday I had estimated my caloric intake but now I'm counting every digit. I'm vegetarian so I made grilled soy schnitzels for lunch [they're more like steak but the distributor calls them "schnitzels"] , put some soy sauce on top, and a tomato and cucumber salad. Just vinegar and olive oil for the dressing. I input all the info and surprise surprise! My lunch weighed almost a kilogram (2 pounds) but was 400 calories! Now I've always known that veggies and volume feeding in general were good ideas but I still underestimated how much a salad weighs versus how much energy it contains. The soy steaks have a similar watery prevalence as they are 50% protein [yay, I get all my daily protein in just one lunch] and you have to soak them into water before grilling. So their volume triples.

So yeah, I just wanted to share how happy I was! I'm stuffed and I only ate 400 cal! Everything was healthy and nutritious too. IT ISN'T HARD! omg I was just pessimistic. Thank you, everyone, I read a lot on here and everything has been helpful! From the practical advice, through the personal inspiration stories to all the admitted mistakes and words of caution... irl I feel alone. My bf isn't interested in losing weight (he isn't in the obese category tho). But here... I see cool people, nice people who are motivated and don't kid themselves! Denial is our worst enemy! Denial makes progress impossible.

Just to provide some contrast, last year I used to grab some pie from the local bakery during my morning doggy walk. A 1-pound piece that probably had a total of 1600 calories... for breakfast. Today's breakfast was a cup of blackberries - a total of 70 calories! Fruit also helps me when I get a candy craving. I'm now very inspired and thinking about how to substitute all my favorite unhealthy snacks, like nachos, with veggie alternatives, like zucchini crisps maybe to pair with chilly sauce? Anyway, there are dedicated subs for recipes etc. so I'm just gonna stop spamming now and go be happy!

TL;DNR: Realized that if the majority of my food volume comes from fruits and veggies, my daily calories drop incredibly while I still feel fed! A no-brainer really but seeing it in practice and discovering it doesn't lead to starvation were a game changer!
