How do you overcome a food addiction?
Hi, long time lurker, first time poster. SW: 335 CW:289 GW: 190 Height: 5'9
I'm a mid twenties women battling with food addiction ever since I can remember. About two years ago I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and had to take medication for it. I understand this isn't normal for someone my age and I was just really unhealthy and this really lit a fire under my ass. I went down to 267, had to take a lot less medication and felt much better about everything. Then I was stuck may that weight and the 2020 holidays season happened. I slid back up and I'm terrified of going even higher. I have a lot of issues with sugar/soft foods and my ability to self control.
Another issue that just makes this an even harder uphill battle is that I'm autisitc and one of my stims (repetitive, sometimes unconscious, action or movement that is self soothing for autistic individuals) is chewing. Stims are different for everyone but I notice I eat to chew, not to be nourished. I feel like this goes hand in hand with my self control and the terrible food choices I made in the past.
I'm looking for any kind of advice, help, or recommendations that could allow me to battle food addiction. Thanks in advance
