Too weak to lift weights/workout?
So as the title of the post suggests, I have legitimately been led to believe that I'm simply too physically weak for lifting. I have a myriad of health issues/reasons for jumping to such a conclusion and I'll do my best to simplify.
Long story short, early 20s here with lifelong anxiety disorders, treatment resistant MDD, severe ulcerative colitis/crohns, and chronic insomnia. Tried lifting a long while back and could not physically progress beyond 8lb dumbbells despite pathetically adhering to a semblance of a routine for two months. Extremely exhausting and as I said, physically impossible for me to do reps of anything heavier. Tried working out with an acquaintance with a light (5lbs?) bar with two 5lb plates and I could barely complete three reps before having to stop. It completely drained me of what energy I had and made me feel extremely winded/dizy.
Don't have high blood sugar or diabetes, and I was fully hydrated in these scenarios. Can't/won't go to a gym because of several very terrible experiences with gyms.
The spirit of this post is moreso directed at all of the encouragement I've received from people telling me to start lifting, but I just see it as a waste of time if I literally can't progress or lift the lightest weights available. I've seen people that I know stick to a routine and become very physically fit; and yet, I'm so devoid of energy/physically weak that I can't even dip my feet into lifting without feeling as if I'm a walking cadaver.
