Started my journey Nov1
Hello everybody, I feel like I wanted to tell somebody, keeping up the accountability. How I got here: I was a competitive rower from 12 on until this spring. Never the leanest, I was always sitting around 18% body fat. I’m 6’7” the last few years always around 220lbs. Could have been leaner (for an athlete), but I felt good where I was. Last year I started med school and speaking of weight, things went downhill (or uphill?) from there. I was REALLY stressed out, everything was new and I really didn’t have a plan how I would manage all of it. I quit competitive rowing (still rowing for myself though), my training load dropped from 20h a week to like 5. Long story short, I’m sitting at 250lbs and 24% right now, i gained almost 20lbs. Thankfully I figured out my learning strategies and how to cope with all of medschool. I did join competitive rowing again, though a good bit “less competitive” we 3-5 training sessions per week. My goal: get back to 220 and 18%. Firstly because none of my clothes fit anymore and everyday while dressing I’m reminded of how I exploded within just 6 months. Secondly, with all my professors telling us how dangerous diabetes is, it really got me thinking. They call it the biggest problem for huminaty and health systems for the next 50 years, calling sugar the new heroin. It really is scaring that diabetes is basically blowing up everything in your body. Don’t want that stuff. Anyways, to sum it up: SW 250lbs (Nov 1), GW <220lbs <18% Looking forward to this sub keeping all of us motivated!
