Talking to my doctor?
I hope this question is ok for here. I've been doing really well working out and eating right. I'm losing weight and getting my diabetes under control. Yay me!
The only issue is that I have a bad knee. It has always given me a lot of trouble. Hurts during bad weather, hurts just every now and then. It gets sore and stiff.
Before I started my weight loss journey I talked to my doctor and she basically just said it was probably because of my weight and just take Advil. I hate taking pain meds and rather not that be just the solution.
I've done a lot of research on my own and am trying to do low impact exercise. I walk daily both for work and at home and am hitting 6-7k steps a day and working up to 10k. I also use a stationary bike just for 15 mins a day, 5 days a week, now but slowly working it up.
As soon as I finish walking or the bike I ice my knee. That helps but I still get pain/discomfort.
I want to bring it up at my doctor appointment this month but I'm unsure of what to say or what to ask for.
I'm hoping someone here who had knee issues when they were/are overweight can give me some advice?
I just don't want the only solution to be pain meds. Or is the doctor right and I should just suck it up and see how it is after I lose more weight?
I really love being active. I used to walk everyday years ago and love walking with my dogs and am loving the cycling too. I don't want to give it up either.
