85 down

I started my journey 2 yrs ago. I was in my specialists office, again. This time to make a plan to save myself from my own bodies genetics. We talked at length about my options. What the future would/could look like for me. I decided that instead of adding 2 more pills a day; to my already 15 a day; I'd try the diet. The diet in this case was the renal diet. I'd switch from my fast food, junk food, hey I ate a salad last Thursday, diet. The rules of the new dietary plan was simple sounding. 65g of protein from ALL sources a day. Plus lower calcium in my case. I said that really doesn't sound so hard. I really didn't appreciate how drastically different my diet would look, until I looked in my kitchen. Hot Pocket 14g, cheese varies but averaging about 4-6g per 1/4 cup. Pulled pork in BBQ sauce averages 33g per 3oz! Not much food for someone at 27 5'1 and 265lbs. I was entirely committed to trying though. My doctor said in 3 and 6 m follow up labs if no change the diet plan wouldn't work for me. If I saw changes though we would talk about how significant they were or weren't. By 6m I was down over 45lbs and my labs were looking amazing. Now after 2 yrs I'm down 85lbs today. I hit 180 at 29yrs old. I'm walking 2miles 3-4 days a week. While I lost much more slowly in year 2 I continue. I'm looking forward to year 3 my goal is 25lbs this year. Life goal is 145 per my doctors and myself. So I joined for the support through this harder slower time. I can't afford to quit or slack off now. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. I hope my story (mobile format) helps someone else. Yay no dialysis for me!
